It’s time to saddle up and get under starter’s orders as a popular fundraiser returns for an Island charity.

Manx Blind Welfare Society will next week stage ‘A Night At The Races’ with eight exciting horse races, as well as the return of the pig race which proved a hit at last year’s event.

Taking place on Friday 2nd October at the charity’s Corrin Court Headquarters in Onchan from 7pm, organisers promise fun for the whole family, with all money raised on the evening supporting the Society’s work with blind and visually impaired people.

Manx Blind Welfare Society Volunteers Coordinator & Events Organisers Debbie Thomson said: ‘We’re delighted to announce the return of ‘A Night at the Races’, which has proved so much fun and a great fundraising success in the past. It should provide plenty of laughter and excitement, and we hope it will be well supported with both individuals and teams more than welcome.

‘We provide free services and support to blind and visually impaired across the Island, and rely on donations, fundraising and bequests to continue this vital work, so events like ‘A Night at the Races’ are really important.’

Throughout the evening, races will be shown on a large screen and bets can be placed at £1 per horse or £2 per pig, with all winners receiving prizes.

Tickets for the race night (£5) include homemade soup and a delicious dessert, and guests may bring their own soft and alcoholic drinks.
