We would like to congratulate Sight Matters' member Boakesey Closs on becoming the IXth Manx Bard! 

On the 28th of August 2023, Boakesey was inaugurated as the Manx Bard after wowing the judges with her poem Manannan's Revenge (The Ballag of Cammag). The Manx Bard is selected after an annual competition. The position is described by organisers as a unique opportunity to take part in continuing the cultural legacy of the Isle of Man and promoting the island's unique heritage. 

We are well aware that the Sight Matters' membership is full of talent and ability, and it's always a thrill to see our members succeed in their creative endeavours. Boakesey, who recently exhibited some of her artworks at the Sight Matters Arts Exhibition, is living proof that sight loss or visual impairment need not mean compromising on pursuing and attaining one's goals. 

So, once again, well done, Boakesey. We can't wait to read your work as the new Manx Bard.
